Date() Function in PHP
What is a Date() Function?
Explanation
The "Date()" function returns a string in the specified format for a date and time.
Syntax:
date(format,timestamp)
In the above syntax "format" is used to specify the format of the date and time to be returned, "timestamp" is an optional field.
Example :

echo date("Y/m/d");
echo "<br/>";
echo date("Y.m.d");
echo "<br/>";
echo date("Y-m-d");
?>
Result :
2014/05/21
2014.05.21
2014-05-21
In the above example the function will display, the current date in different formats, and "y" for the current year, "m" for the month(1-12), "d" for the date(1-31).
