Lists in Perl

Topic

What is an List?

Explanation

The List is simply an ordered set of scalar data. A list name is represented with the '@' symbol. A List name cannot start with a number, but it can have the same conventional naming system.

The only difference between an Array and a List is that array refers to variable name that holds the lists, whereas List is the real data contained in it.

Example:
    #! C:\programfiles\perl\bin\perl
    print "content-type: text/html\n\n";
    @numbers =(1,2,3);
    print "<br>";
    print @numbers;
Result:
    123

In the above example the scalar data in the list "number" is printed in the same order as it is stored.
