What is lcfirst Function in Perl?

This function is used to convert first character of a string into lower case.
Syntax:
lcfirst EXPR
lcfirst
In the above syntax, lcfirst() function takes a "string" as the argument.
Example:
#! C:\programfiles\perl\bin\perl
print "content-type: text/html\n\n";
$string = "ABVP";
$string2 = lcfirst($string);
print "Lower case first character: $string2\n";
Result:
Lower case first character: aBVP
In the above example the first character of the string "ABVP" is converted to lowercase using the function lcfirst().
